//Food Prep Sunday//

IMG_6352Sundays are my favorite day for many reasons– church, no work, staying home with the kiddos and FOOD PREP for the week ahead!  I’ve learned in my years of Beachbody that prepping is KEY!! I always thought it would take me forever to do but it honestly takes an hour or less to put everything together.

I usually order my groceries to pick up or be delivered on Friday after school so I always try to be prepared as to what I need by Thursday.  My weeks are pretty consistent as far as what I eat, especially during the school week.  Once I get my groceries, I store them until Sunday and get them out, cut them up and portion them out!! So nice to have to just grab and go!

Some of my go to breakfasts: oatmeal, egg white muffins, hard boiled eggs, fruit, healthy french toast, Greek yogurt with Fiber One cereal, and homemade Quest bars.

Some favorite snacks would be: Shakeology bars, fruit, almonds, bananas, crockpot apples, hummus and rice cakes.

Chocolate is by far my favorite!

As far as lunch it almost always consists of a chocolate shake and some kind of fruit. I make my shake with 1/2 water, 1/2 cashew milk, ice, scoop of Shakeology and 1/4 of a banana.  

Dinners can sometimes be tough because I’m also trying to cook for a 7 year old, 4 year old and 1 1/2 year old.  I try to make thing  all will eat but it doesn’t always happen!  Some of our go to’s are Mexican Crockpot Chicken (great for leftovers– tacos and salads), turkey meatballs, turkey meatloaf, shrimp and salmon.  Vegetables consist of sweet potatoes, zucchini noodles, spaghetti squash, mixed medley of cauliflower and broccoli and cauliflower rice.  Some pictures below of some of our favorites… I will post more recipes this week too! I don’t have tons of time like most moms so my recipes are quick and easy!!

IMG_6744And LASTLY– my favorite… DESSERT!! I found my newest love and posted it the other day!! HOMEMADE ICE CREAM!! It’s easy and so much cheaper than Halo Top and the other healthy ice creams.

//80 Day Obsession//

80 DOWORKOUT WEDNESDAY!!  I’ve been waiting to post about my newest workout until I got through the first 20 days– LOVE IT!!! If you haven’t heard of Beachbody’s 80 Day Obsession, I’m about to share some of my favorite things about it!! My daily morning workouts have always consisted of cardio and as of the last 2 years have also consisted of some type of Beachbody workout (21 DF Extreme, T25, Core De Force).  I was hesitant to enroll in the Beachbody on Demand and complete the 80 Day Obsession because I didn’t think I had time for 40-60 minute workouts after my runs.  After starting it though, I’m truly obsessed with it.

So what is it?!? — It’s an amazing 80 day program with a strong emphasis on glute and core training.  It’s obsessive focus on fitness and nutrition that is spread over a 13 week time period.  It is definitely demanding but that’s something I thrive on and love the challenge of it.  Each and every workout so far has been different which really works all different muscles within your body.  Autumn Calabrese never lets a muscle get comfortable!!  Yes, you will be sore, but it’s a good sore!!

containersIt does consists of timed nutrition as well and ‘on demand’ program gives you all the information on that.  I’ve been so used to Beachbody’s 21 Day Fix Extreme eating plan and using the colored containers, that it wasn’t much of an adjustment.  I don’t follow the exact timed nutrition only because I get up to workout before 5 in the morning and the program recommends eating before you workout.  There is no way I’m getting up any earlier to eat before the workout so I have modified it to my daily schedule (which is very easy to do).

So WHY did I choose this program?  — I chose it for a variety of reasons but the main one that stuck out to me is that it’s an intense comprehensive workout and nutrition program that I can continue doing at home.  I’m not one to go to the gym– I like using our treadmill, elliptical and free weights at home.  I also chose this program because a few women in my home town started an accountability group that talked so highly of it, I HAD to try it!

What equipment do I need? — 

  • Dumbbells (light, medium and heavy depending on your fitness level you are at)– I personally use 8’s, 10’s, 15’s and 20’s throughout all of them. (bought these off Amazon)
  • Portion control containers– I have a few sets of the BeachBody sets but can also use different sizes you may already have at home (rubbermaid, etc)
  • Strength Slides– These Elite brand are my favorite
  • Resistant Loops– These are my favorite from Amazon
  • Mat– I don’t use one but any yoga type mat works if you feel like you need
  • Beachbody on Demand (more info below)

What is Beachbody on Demand? — It’s a platform that allows you to stream different Beachbody workouts (thousands of workouts!!!).  Within each Beachbody workout on Demand, it comes with nutrition guides, workout calendars and exclusives like Autumn Calabrese’s FIXATE book and cooking show!!

I honestly didn’t do BOD until about a month ago.  I always ordered the DVD’s and now I’m realizing how stupid that was!!  You can access it ANYWHERE!!! It’s amazing!

#21 Day Fix/80 Day Obsession Recipe Ideas

A few new recipes I have tried out in the last week and have been able to get my kids to eat too!!


cookiedoughyogurtCookie Dough Greek Yogurt (1 red, 2 tsp)

1/2 C. Greek yogurt
2 Tbsp. mini chocolate chips
1 Tbsp. peanut butter
1 Tbsp. honey
Pinch sea salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Mix everything in a bowl and enjoy!

Turkey Quesadilla

 

1 Yellow: Flat Out tortilla ( I prefer the Mama Lupe low carb)
1 Red: Lean ground turkey or chicken and plain non-fat Greek yogurt

1 Green: Sauteed onions and peppers (put into quesadilla) and shredded lettuce for topping
1 Blue- Fat free/low fat cheese or an avocado (or 1/2 and 1/2)
1/2 Purple: Salsa
1 more Yellow: Red Wine (hahah!)  🙂

Breakfast Burrito

      • 1 1/2 RED — 2 eggs scrambled (or 4 egg whites– subtract 1/2 red if using whites only) with 2 slices turkey bacon
