//80 Day Obsession//

80 DOWORKOUT WEDNESDAY!!  I’ve been waiting to post about my newest workout until I got through the first 20 days– LOVE IT!!! If you haven’t heard of Beachbody’s 80 Day Obsession, I’m about to share some of my favorite things about it!! My daily morning workouts have always consisted of cardio and as of the last 2 years have also consisted of some type of Beachbody workout (21 DF Extreme, T25, Core De Force).  I was hesitant to enroll in the Beachbody on Demand and complete the 80 Day Obsession because I didn’t think I had time for 40-60 minute workouts after my runs.  After starting it though, I’m truly obsessed with it.

So what is it?!? — It’s an amazing 80 day program with a strong emphasis on glute and core training.  It’s obsessive focus on fitness and nutrition that is spread over a 13 week time period.  It is definitely demanding but that’s something I thrive on and love the challenge of it.  Each and every workout so far has been different which really works all different muscles within your body.  Autumn Calabrese never lets a muscle get comfortable!!  Yes, you will be sore, but it’s a good sore!!

containersIt does consists of timed nutrition as well and ‘on demand’ program gives you all the information on that.  I’ve been so used to Beachbody’s 21 Day Fix Extreme eating plan and using the colored containers, that it wasn’t much of an adjustment.  I don’t follow the exact timed nutrition only because I get up to workout before 5 in the morning and the program recommends eating before you workout.  There is no way I’m getting up any earlier to eat before the workout so I have modified it to my daily schedule (which is very easy to do).

So WHY did I choose this program?  — I chose it for a variety of reasons but the main one that stuck out to me is that it’s an intense comprehensive workout and nutrition program that I can continue doing at home.  I’m not one to go to the gym– I like using our treadmill, elliptical and free weights at home.  I also chose this program because a few women in my home town started an accountability group that talked so highly of it, I HAD to try it!

What equipment do I need? —

  • Dumbbells (light, medium and heavy depending on your fitness level you are at)– I personally use 8’s, 10’s, 15’s and 20’s throughout all of them. (bought these off Amazon)
  • Portion control containers– I have a few sets of the BeachBody sets but can also use different sizes you may already have at home (rubbermaid, etc)
  • Strength Slides– These Elite brand are my favorite
  • Resistant Loops– These are my favorite from Amazon
  • Mat– I don’t use one but any yoga type mat works if you feel like you need
  • Beachbody on Demand (more info below)

You can buy it all on the Beachbody website or I ordered mine off Amazon for a cheaper price.

What is Beachbody on Demand? — It’s a platform that allows you to stream different Beachbody workouts (thousands of workouts!!!).  Within each Beachbody workout on Demand, it comes with nutrition guides, workout calendars and exclusives like Autumn Calabrese’s FIXATE book and cooking show!!

I honestly didn’t do BOD until about a month ago.  I always ordered the DVD’s and now I’m realizing how stupid that was!!  You can access it ANYWHERE!!! It’s amazing!

If you’re interested in joining BOD, click here.  Plus, $10 off in the month of February!!!

10 off

So just a short intro into the program but more information to come and posts about it and the meals I make and eat and how I have found success with the program.  Check out some of the live links above to find out more about joining the program and getting the equipment at discount prices!!

Hope you check it out!!

//What Workout Gear Would YOU Buy if given $500 to Spend?//

Time for a little hypothetical question and maybe a little Saturday workout motivation – imagine you were walking by a gym and running out the doors came the owner. He races up to you and says – ‘it’s your lucky day – I’m going to give you anything you would want if you workout at my gym for 30 days straight up to the value of $500’!

You’ve got an hour to choose what you want, it can be workout gear, equipment you would use, sports/protein drinks or just anything you would use to help motivate you to workout – what would you get?

If I were asked this question, there are 5 sites I can think of off hand that I would go to right away: Athleta, 6pm.com, BeachBody, Amazon, and Under Armour.  Some of my favorite workout gear that I wear during workouts come from those sites and my weights and other equipment are purchased from them too.  Five of my essentials to motivate my workouts include (click on the pictures to send you to the sale links):

BB Energize
Best running shoes I’ve found!! http://www.6pm.com (All brands imaginable!!)
My newest workout obsession!! (more posts to come on these amazing new finds!!!)
7/8 Tight- Athleta
Any and all Athleta gear is amazing for both workouts and all day wear!

#AboutMe #Fitness #Beachbody

Just a little about me and where fitness falls into my life—I’m NOT a trainer at a gym or a fitness guru, I’m a married 31 year-old, momma of 2 boys and business teacher to hundreds of teenagers throughout the school year!!  Do I have a passion for health and fitness?!? YES I DO!! I have always been someone that works out regularly (usually at 5 in the morning before our kids get up and interrupt or before I can come up with an excuse to not workout) and recently I have become even more into the HEALTH part of fitness. I have been a long time runner (5-8 miles daily—insane, I know) and have always eaten pretty healthy. There is a lot of will power in that! But about 2 months ago, my older sister came to me with a program, Beachbody 21 Day Fix, that she wanted to start.  First off, you have to know my sister, which would take me into a whole novel of a post (love ya Li J)— but she is one that loves to start different programs (an “I’ll start tomorrow type) and so I wasn’t quite sure what type of program this would be.  See, Linds is a very tiny woman (34 with 2 kids of her own) who doesn’t always eat the healthiest and hates working out (complete opposite of me).

Anyway, you’ll hear lots about Lindsay throughout this blog, but she inspired me to start this program with her and man am I glad I did!! Autumn Calabreese, the fitness trainer in 21 Day Fix (regular and Extreme), teaches about portion control and the RIGHT types of food our bodies need.  She has a series of 30 minute workouts, which are amazing for busy people and kick your butt, that I have grown to LOVE!! This being said, I have stopped my 5-8 miles runs since May 1, 2015 and have been doing 2 workouts a morning of ’21 Day’ and 30-60 minutes of cardio throughout the day (sometimes right after my DVD workouts and sometimes in the afternoons—elliptical, walks, etc.).  Funny thing is—I don’t miss my runs!! I feel SO much better doing this program—it works all parts of my body and focuses on fueling my body!  For me, it was a major A-Ha moment where I realized what I truly needed to focus on with my health.

Welllll, I have enjoyed this so much, and so has my sister, that we decided to coach and motivate our own Beachbody teams! Lindsay joined under an amazing coach before I did, but we have come together under that coach and are building our own teams.  One thing I want to get straight though—we aren’t in it JUST to make money and sell to people—we are in it to help motivate and work to get our friends, acquaintances and family on a journey to great health!

“My goal is to inspire you to get off your butt and do something significant with your life. We all have something special inside of us that is meant to be shared with others. However, sometimes it takes a while for us to believe in our potential. If I can help you discover that potential….well, that would be the coolest thing EVER! But hey, I can’t do the work for you!”

My favorite thing about this whole experience is that journey never ends. Even when you cross the finish line or cross the last workout off your calendar you’re never really DONE. There’s always a new challenge waiting around the corner, and tomorrow is a new day.

I am so thrilled to announce that me and my sister, Lindsay, have taken a step into the fitness industry and partnered with makers of P90X and Insanity, and Team INSPIRE, a group of nearly 300 fitness professional and enthusiasts. We cannot wait to help as many people as possible become fit and healthy!
